Beau Greenwood is executive vice president of government relations and public affairs at
CropLife America, the largest national trade association representing developers,
manufacturers, formulators, and distributors of chemical crop protection solutions in the
United States. In this role, Greenwood leads the association’s national and state
advocacy efforts.
Greenwood was appointed by the White House in 1999 to serve as legislative director and
director of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Commodity Trading
Futures Commission (CFTC). There he helped shape policy and direct legislative
strategy that culminated in the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, which
modernized U.S. futures and other derivatives trading. He then joined the New York
Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2001 as director in their government relations office in
Washington, D.C. His efforts at the Exchange were initially dominated by the
recovery and response efforts of the Wall Street community following the 9/11 attacks
followed by dealing with the wave of corporate scandals including Enron and
WorldCom. Greenwood was then reappointed to the CFTC by the White House in 2005 where
he served as chief of staff to CFTC Commissioner Fred Hatfield before joining CLA in
2006.
A graduate of the George Washington University, he also attended Texas A&M
University. He is originally from Corpus Christi, Texas. He and his wife, Sheila, live
with their son, Tripp, in Alexandria, Virginia.
