Betsy Sellers Baysinger is currently senior director of USDA’s Trade and Regulatory Capacity Building Division. The Division helps countries understand and adopt international sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) standards and practices to open markets and expand participation in the global trading system. During her career at FAS, she’s also worked as: chief of staff in the Undersecretary’s office; food security lead in APEC and the G20; ag negotiator during the WTO Doha Round; and on food assistance. Betsy holds a Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University and undergraduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in Russian and economics. She lives in the D.C. suburbs with her husband and two children, and spends her free time bicycling and maintaining a pre-revolutionary cottage near Leesburg, VA.
