Paul has 30 years of experience in the agrochemical industry where he has held positions as a researcher within USDA’s insect biocontrol laboratory, as a regulatory and scientific consultant to industry, and various management and leadership roles within both small and larger agrochemical corporations. At FMC, he provides global issues management and strategic regulatory, technical, and scientific advice in support of FMC’s portfolio.

Paul has been working on science, policy, and legal issues related to pesticides and the Endangered Species Act (ESA) since 2004 and is FMC’s expert on ESA, biodiversity, and policy management. Over the years, he has co-authored several publications providing innovative approaches for refined ESA risk evaluations of pesticides and has worked with the U.S. EPA, USDA, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and the National Marine Fisheries Service to develop and refine ESA policies and risk evaluation procedures.

Over his career, Paul has served on many committees and work groups within CropLife America (CLA), covering a range of science and policy issues relevant to human health, environmental, and endangered species risk assessment. Most recently, he has served as vice chair of CLA’s Endangered Species Issues Management Team and co-chair of the Biodiversity Committee, and he continues to provide ESA leadership and advice on the steering group for the Biodiversity Committee.

Earlier this year, Paul successfully completed the first nationwide pesticide ESA consultations (on malathion) with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service using innovative approaches to protect species while minimizing the impact on agricultural, non-agricultural, homeowner residential uses, and public health mosquito control.
