Speaker Bio
Jim Massie is the founder, and CEO of Massie Partners is in his third decade of leading successful advocacy efforts for a broad range of clients. Jim specializes in strategizing for clients interested in energy, the environment, agriculture, manufacturing, tax, and trade.

Jim began his career by working on the landmark Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980, which established the Superfund program, and the Staggers Rail Act, which deregulated the U.S. rail industry. He has been a key part of every energy and environmental debate since. Jim started out with the Fertilizer Institute, and then moved over to Freeport McMoRan, a minerals and energy company, lobbying on energy, environment, and tax policies. Ready to put his expertise to work for a broader range of businesses, two decades ago Jim co-founded the Alpine Group, which grew to become one of the most influential energy and environmental lobbying groups in
Washington.

In 2016, Jim was ready to start a new, specialized boutique lobbying firm to provide his clients
personal, hands-on advocacy. Jim finds that advocacy efforts are more successful when clients
and consultants work collaboratively throughout the process, from setting goals, to developing
strategies to realize those goals, to implementing the strategies. Massie Partners was created
to provide service consistent with this whole-service philosophy to its clients. Jim’s client
retention in his decades of lobbying is evidence that many businesses agree that this is a
winning strategy.

Jim currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife, Camille, and their three daughters.
