Speaker Bio
Bill is a senior science advisor in the Environmental Fate and Effects Division of the Office of Pesticide Programs, U.S. EPA. He has been with OPP for 22 years and has worked in environmental science for 41 years overall, including experience in solid waste, groundwater pollution, non-target pollutant identification, and representation of citizens’ groups. Bill earned his Ph.D. in environmental science/public policy from George Mason University in 2001. His dissertation was “The Secondary Lead Smelting Industry.”

Bill advises the Plant Tech Team and the Pesticide Fate and Transport Tech Team in EFED, co-chairs the Residues of Concern Knowledge Subcommittee (ROCKS) and represents OPP on the Risk Assessment Forum (RAF) Ecological Oversight Committee and the Unregulated Contaminants Monitoring Rule Committee (EPA Office of Water). He is the co-chair of the Ecotoxicology Workgroup of ICCVAM (Interagency Coordinating Committee, NIH).

Bill’s current major duties include endangered species risk assessment, exposure model development, and development of New Assessment Methods (NAMs), including retrospective analysis of OPP animal toxicity data and development of ecotoxicology QSAR models.
