Stephanie Murphy joined Bayer (formerly Monsanto Company) in August 2014 as part of the Government Affairs Team in Washington, D.C. Recently promoted to head federal government relations, crop science and international trade, Stephanie leads the team responsible for relationships with U.S. government officials and foreign officials in Washington, and is responsible for supporting Bayer business functions across business divisions in Western and Eastern Europe, Turkey, Russia, and the Americas. Her team is also accountable for supporting Bayer business across the rest of the globe as well as Bayer’s U.S. crop science business with the U.S. government.
Prior to joining Bayer, Stephanie spent about 13 years working in the U.S. Government advancing trade interests for U.S. agriculture abroad. Most recently, Stephanie worked as director of agricultural affairs for the Executive Office of the President, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative serving as the agricultural affairs negotiator for bilateral sanitary and phytosanitary issues and market access issues. Before joining USTR, Stephanie worked in the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture both in the FAS Office of Negotiations and Agreements and in the FAS Office of Global Analysis program areas. Prior to her time working for the U.S. Administration, Stephanie served as a consultant to the International Food Policy Research Institute and spent time in Santiago, Chile, teaching English.
Stephanie did graduate work at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and at the George Washington University and received her Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and in environmental studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Stephanie was born and raised in Auburn, Ohio.
